Oh dear! Shein Reports Significant Loss In Sales!

Fast-fashion giant Shein have filed reports of $99m loss (£74.1m) in the first three months of the 2026 financial year, compared with a net income of $395m reported last year. Oh dear me! Are people realising the impacts of overconsumption?

Actually, it looks like the people still love shopping. The filing showed that in the year to the end of March 2026 Shein had 281 million active customers - a rise of more than 16% on a year earlier - who placed a total of more than one billion orders.

Sales have reportedly slowed after US President Donald Trump removed an import duty exemption on small packages and the European Union has just imposed a €3 duty on small parcels imported from outside the trading bloc.

Profits were reported to have peaked at $3.4 billion in 2024 and fell to $2 billion in 2025. Shein was worth around $100 billion in a 2022 valuation. People now estimate the current figure to below $50 billion, roughly half of its peak, with some shareholders said to be braced for less. The company has not confirmed any of these numbers.

Lets hope we are seeing the fast-demise of the worlds biggest fashion polluter.
